Bright Lights

For those who read my blog, I made a note a few weeks ago stating that the International Road Travel Enthusiasts Association would be taking a backseat, but I wanted to re-focus my attention on building a Collaborative Blog (Open Road International Magazine) and an online community. So, as part of the first step toward that end, I’ve started up a Wiki to replace the stagnant Route Repository. ORIM RouteWiki is online and live, but still being worked on so it has not been linked from the main page, but if you’re interested in seeing what we have so far, you can visit it online: http://openroadinternational.org/routewiki

I just posted the last article that will appear on The Open Road International Magazine Portal for a while. The hugely failed “International Road Travel Enthusiasts Association” will cease all membership activities and attempting to start a NPO. Instead I have decided to take the site in a completely different direction, starting with the redesign of the website into a Portal for Open Road International Magazine. Some of the features that will be retained: a message board (that will be completely redesigned into a social message board), and A Route Encyclopedia (will be moved to a Wiki for easier collaboration).

I’m excited about the changes that will be made to the now defunct IRTEA website, and will be looking for people interested in writing. Open Road International Magazine will be full featured, and not just travel. People, places, even poetry will all be open subjects for the new collaborative blog.

I have yet to begin designing the new IRTEA website, and I anticipate that some things will remain the same. When I am finished though, the front page will look amazing, and we’ll have a real journalistic endeavor.

So, thank you all who supported me in attempting to build the IRTEA, but I do believe that ORIM will be much, much more successful.

Now, if I can only find time to get out on the road.
